Here we go - finally mr. Andy decided to participate in clay tournament after missing first three. Roddick is player who finds less and less motivation on dirt every year, and his last years results proove that - He got victory only vs Pless, Peya and Gaudio. I really can't imagine worse players on orange surface at that moment. But He lost to first player who can play there. Anyway Yestarday He got easy win over "another clay legend" Fish. But to be honest I wasn't impressed about Roddick performance. First set was just ton of errors from Fish, but unless Mardy played some tennis in second Roddick was pretty much without answers against those massive forehands. Of course He couldn't handle that all set and lost after all. Roddick movement was very poor - He can stay in rally only if opponent make easy shots mostly through center, but if You hit a little bit harder and make Roddick run from one to other side It's pretty much over for American. Of course I will not comment that terrible moonballing without any pace or power. Roddick simply can't hit winner in longer rally. He faces rising star Bolelli. I like Simone very much, due his aggressive groundstrokes and interesting tennis. I saw pretty much of him lately and He has top material to reach very high level. OK there are some doubts about his fatigue or something, but watching yesterday match I'm still pretty convincing that He can do as much as need to win. I imagine today's match pretty much one sided in rallies - Simone can push Roddick very hard from baseline and then make excellent dropshot what He does very well. Only worry is return of Roddick serve, but as I see He didn't face big problems with that on clay. So I definitely can't accept this as 50/50 match. Bolelli should be clear favorite even knowing He played a lot tennis lately. High stakes for me here.
Pick: Bolelli Odds: 1.90 (widely available) Stake: 8/10 |

At first glance this is typical no bet match, but looking closer I found great value on Eitzinger. Rainer is veteran in ATP tour, mostly spend all career in challenger tournaments with some success on clay. After miserable finish of last season He found some form and playing decent stuff on challenger level. He has 16-5 record including challenger qualies. I would say pretty impressive for Austrian. Now He is in first round and got lucky with draw facing Lee in first round. Lee is typical hard courter, playing aggressive game without much tactic and feels very uncomfortable on orange surface. That's why He has success on clay only when opponent plays even worse that him. I believe this will not be that case as Rainer beat two qualifiers in straight sets and now looking for second round. So all in all there is no many arguments for Lee to win this one. And expekt offer is very nice.
Tournament: BMW Open Pick: R. Eitzinger Odds: 2.45 (Expekt) Stake: 5/10 Result: H-T Lee d R Eitzinger 16 75 62 |

Ferrer had absolute amazing week finally to get home city title. A way how He survived in last three matches with those impossible comebacks and saved mp's are simply insane. Ferrer definitely deserves to be called best fighter in ATP. But all in all He is just human. I'm sure last week took a lot energy - mentally and physically, because that work on court is out of mind. But world is still spinning around and He already get tricky opponent in opener. Safin is one of most inconsistent players around with some letdown lately. But I still didn't lose a faith that He can produce solid tennis. He did it vs Ferrero last week, beating home favorite in first round. Also first half of match against Haase was good, but then He flew away with some no brainer moves. So typical. He did good vs Malisse in first round - steady baseline play with accurate volley. I liked that performance. And I like this underdog position in today's match. In my opinion He can rival with David if It will be his day. Odds are quite attractive to try Marat here.
Pick: Safin Odds: 3.11 (Pinnacle) Stake: 4/10
Result: [5] D Ferrer (ESP) d [WC] M Safin (RUS) 62 63 |
